My Experience with Proutist Universal Malta

By Nathan Balzan  |  January 18, 2026

When I was chosen to represent Proutist Universal Malta in the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange "Diverse Horizons," I felt both excited and curious. The project was split between Georgia and Malta, making it a truly international experience.

At 18, and in my first year at the University of Malta, this was my very first youth exchange. Naturally, I wasn't quite sure what to expect—but I was eager to learn, meet new people, and embrace the journey.

We envision a world where young people actively engage in their communities, express themselves creatively, and connect across cultures through opportunities like Erasmus+. By bringing together youth from different countries, we aim to build meaningful friendships and lasting connections that go beyond borders.

We believe in celebrating diverse perspectives, challenging stereotypes, and fostering mutual respect. Through "Diverse Horizons," our vision is to inspire positive social change, empower young people to become active citizens, and nurture a strong sense of unity in diversity—both locally and across Europe.

Proutist Universal Malta is proud to take part in the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project "Diverse Horizons," together with partner organisations from Malta, Georgia, Italy, Lithuania, Hungary, and Turkey.

The project brings together 36 young participants and is held in two phases. The first phase takes place in Kobuleti, Georgia from 15 to 22 April 2025. The second phase is hosted at the Marsaxlokk Youth Activity Centre in Malta from 1 to 8 May 2025.

"Diverse Horizons" is supported by the European Union Programme Agency (EUPA Malta), which selected Proutist Universal Malta under the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals, for the period 2024–2026.

This youth exchange creates a space for young people from different countries to connect, learn from one another, and share cultural experiences.

who we are

We are a local non-governmental organisation inspired by the principles of PROUT (Progressive Utilisation Theory). Our mission is to promote the welfare, well-being, and happiness of all by fostering a more just, compassionate, and sustainable society.

Proutist Universal Malta aims to support educational, cultural, and philanthropic activities that help meet the basic needs of all people—children, youth, and older adults—so they can live with dignity, welfare, and happiness.

We also work to build greater socio-economic awareness and inspire positive change, guided by the principles of PROUT (Progressive Utilisation Theory) as propounded by Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar.

The aim of Proutist Universal Malta is to support educational, cultural, and philanthropic activities that help ensure the basic needs of all people—children, youth, and older adults—are met, promoting their welfare and happiness.

We work to raise public awareness and contribute to the development of a more inclusive and unified society that cares for the well-being of all. We promote a vision where everyone has access to life's basic necessities, can fully develop their potential, and where the planet's resources are used wisely and shared fairly.

We also encourage awareness of economic self-sufficiency, ethical values, and the importance of local language and culture.
